PATHWAYS OUT OF HOMELESSNESS

COMMUNITY CONNECTION AND BELONGING PROJECT

The Community Connection and Belonging Project is a new, locally-based initiative aiming to link people with diverse life experiences together through social connection, and create a friendlier, more connected and empowered community in the neighbourhoods of Annerley, Moorooka, Rocklea and Yeronga.

We know that people feel safer, healthier and happier when they are connected to others in their community. Being welcomed by another member of the community, particularly for those facing homelessness, helps encourage a sense of belonging for everyone. We want everyone who lives in our local neighbourhoods, including members of the community experiencing housing insecurity, homelessness and isolation, to feel like valued members of our community.

The Community Connection and Belonging Project welcomes everyone in our wonderful community to connect with each other in our safe space at the Annerley Baptist Church, and other public spaces across the community. We offer a range of opportunities for community members to come together and value each other through hospitality and friendship. Through the Community Connection and Belonging project, people can connect based on their interests, have a chat and get to know each other, and attend events such as cooking and sharing meals alongside one another.
